Senior Planner

Job Description: 

Mahan Rykiel Associates is seeking a motivated, career-focused professional to lead our Planning Studio. The ideal candidate will be licensed with a BLA or BS degree in either planning, landscape architecture/urban design, or architecture with 10+ years of experience. We envision this role expanding into a leadership position with the opportunity to grow the Planning Studio, its project work and strategic reach throughout the region. Our Planning Studio works on projects at varying scales that include site master plans, downtown/ “Main Street” districts, neighborhoods, parks, and campuses.

What are We Looking For? 

Experience & Education: 

  • 10+ Years of Full Time Professional Experience 
  • Professional Licensure Desired or Working Towards Licensure 
  • Accredited Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design or Related Field 

Professional Skills:  

  • Team player, thought leader, passionate and self-motivated professional 
  • Strong sense of design and detailing; experience in design
  • Collaborative thinking, Design coordination with internal and external teams and consultants 
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, while mentoring junior staff and balancing project responsibilities 

Technical Skills & Expertise 

  • Excellent graphic (computer and/or hand), verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Excellent creative thinking and design ability 
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and coordination of planning documents  
  • Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD preferred 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
