The Inn at Virginia Tech is a premier conference center, hotel and ballroom facility sited on an existing 18-hole golf course in southwestern Virginia. The landscape architecture complements the Gothic style architecture of the overall campus and is designed to recall the character of an elegant country retreat.

Mahan Rykiel led the design team for the renovation of the Academic Quad, a significant landscape which includes the most historic and iconic buildings on campus, mature canopy trees and a broad sweeping lawn. A major infrastructure repair project provided the impetus for the renovation which displaced existing walkways and introduced temporary ones.
This project involves a 105,000 SF expansion of the existing Mudd-Levi Science Building on the Homewood campus. This will include state of the art laboratories, faculty offices, meeting/ seminar rooms and a student commons/coffee bar. Landscape development incorporates improvements to an existing courtyard and realigned pedestrian connections to the rest of campus.
