Harbor East

Baltimore, Maryland

For almost 20 years, Mahan Rykiel Associates has been involved with the planning, design, and implementation of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Mahan Rykiel has been involved from the initial conceptualization of many of these assignments through to implementation and construction administration.

MRA created the Harbor East Design Guidelines tying in the latest section of the Harbor with the existing promenade. MRA’s guidelines included the selection of site amenities, paving and lighting.

MRA designed the gateway to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor East district which features the Katyn Memorial, the tallest sculpture in Baltimore.

MRA completed construction administration on the new Four Seasons Hotel. This involved designing the promenade area surrounding the Inner Harbor, the streetscape area, entry drive and porte cochere as well as rooftop amenities.

Nearby, MRA also completed the storefront to Under Armour’s first retail location.

Other projects at the Inner Harbor include the design of Pierce’s Park, The Vue, Spinnaker Bay, the promenade by the Marriott, the roundabout and Katyn Memorial, the addition to the Mammal Pavilion at the National Aquarium, and the Maryland 9/11 Memorial.
