Designed to be a central hub of activity within the Downtown Crown District, Crown Park has struggled to attract users and activity within the surrounding community. The Mahan Rykiel team was engaged to re-envision Crown Park, with the central purpose of enhancing its appeal and functionality, so that it can become the vibrant community hub that it was intended to be. One of the key initiatives of the proposed renovation includes providing a variety of seating and amenity spaces, which are intended to promote use and social interaction. Improvements include a signature trellis lounge, soft seating areas, and amenity spaces tucked within existing trees. A new stage area has been designed to create a visual focal point to attract users from adjacent retail areas, while offering a unique setting for community events. The central lawn area has been appropriately sized for informal activities and events, while offering a flexible space for the community.
