Leonardtown’s Butterfly Effect: How Small Changes Are Transforming a Place

Leonardtown, Maryland is a traditional small town defined by a walkable downtown and a hub of independent businesses. While flourishing today, its downtown once suffered from high vacancies, deteriorating buildings, and waning community interest- and on the cusp of disincorporation. Explore how Leonardtown’s transformation has been grounded in small, but impactful changes enabled by tenacious leadership; a shared passion for “place;” long-range planning around community assets; and a focus on implementation successes.

Workshop Date/Time: Tuesday, June 25, 8:00-9:00 a.m.

Moderator: Jay Mattingly, Councilmember, Town of Leonardtown
